District 2 Overview

Located across the Saigon River from District 1 and Binh Thanh District, District 2 offers a comfortable standard of living and a great selection of different apartments. This part of Ho Chi Minh City is much quieter than the city center, with wider streets, less traffic, and a more laid-back atmosphere.

Masteri Thao Dien is the biggest apartment development in Thao Dien. It’s located just off the Hanoi Highway and consists of five towers of 39 to 42 floors, each split into two buildings. Tropic Garden is a mid-sized apartment complex developed by Novaland. It’s made up of five 27-storey towers with just over 1,000 apartments, all located at the northern end of Thao Dien close to the Saigon River.

Apartment at Tropic Garden are great value for money. This building is a few years older than newer apartment buildings such as Masteri Thao Dien, meaning that spacious two bedroom apartments are available in the $700 to $900 range. There are also larger three bedroom apartments available.

Compared to Thao Dien, An Phu has a slightly quieter and more family-focused atmosphere, with the new Estella Place shopping mall, Mega Market and larger apartments, often with free shuttle services to and from nearby international schools.
